General terms of sale

Orders and general conditions

  1. The following sales conditions are understood to be fully accepted by the buyer upon the sales contract’s confirmation.

  2. The price (in Euro, excluding VAT) is final and no cancellations and returns are allowed.

  3. The minimum order length is 1.00 meter for textiles or 1 roll for wallpapers sold per roll. Fabrics with large repeats (marked with the symbol ) are sold by quantities that are multiples of their vertical repeat size. The invoiced quantity will be according to the dispatched quantity that might slightly differ from the order. Orders will be processed depending by the pieces that are available in stock.

  4. Payment terms require prepayment for all sales

    Transport and delivery terms

  5. Transport is not included in the price. In the event that the customer is unable to receive (or collect) the products on the agreed date, Rubelli reserves the right to charge storage costs up to 2% of the order value, for each additional month of storage to the first.

  6. All items are available in our warehouse. Shipments of double width fabrics, with few exceptions that are duly notified, are carried out folding the fabric in the width, to reduce the risk of damage. The parcels must be opened at receipt and the fabric must be stretched if not immediately used, to avoid creasing.

Technical details and directions for use

  7. The recommendations for the use of fabrics must be understood as general guidelines, and must be interpreted and applied according to the criteria of the customer’s appointed professional (upholsterer, installer). Therefore the professional will be the sole responsible for choosing the most appropriate way of using the products, taking into account the needs of the customer. The duration of a fabric is significantly influenced by factors such as the type of padding, the upholstery method, the frequency of use and the accuracy of maintenance.

  8. For reversible items, the customer is responsible for providing instructions to its appointed professional about the desired side to use.

  9. Double width fabrics allow to optimize consumption. Most double width fabrics may be used in both directions. When calculating the necessary quantity we recommend checking the desired direction of use as well as repeat and pattern.

  10. Small imperfections in the fabrics (such as slight color nuances, small knots and slight thickness variations) can be intrinsic characteristics of the fibers used, therefore cannot be the reason of complaints. Velvets or chenilles used for seating undergo crushing of the original pile’s direction, involving a change of its reflection that creates shading. This characteristic is not caused by manufacturing defects and cannot be the reason of a complaint. Particular attention must be given to how velvets are stored: velvet rolls must always be placed horizontally, suspended in their box.

  11. Natural fiber fabrics - including viscose - absorb moisture by lengthening or shortening. Therefore a variation is to be expected both in the ordered cut lengths as in the width mentioned in our catalogues and price lists. It is impossible to precisely advise the ratio of these dimensional variations, having to take into account aspects like composition, weaving techniques, use and maintenance, etc. As an indication, dimensional variations are normal up to +/- 5% for moiré or calendered fabrics, or for those containing viscose or linen, and up to +/- 3% for other fabrics. Within these limits we won’t accept any complaint.
Please consider this explanation before calculating the needed quantity, in particular for curtains or wallpapers. If fabrics must be installed on a wall, we recommend to keep the fabric unrolled in an adequately humidified room for a few days, for it to become dimensionally stable. We decline any responsibility in case of sagging or creasing of the fabrics due to noncompliance with the aforementioned indications.

  12. The pattern sizes of our jacquard fabrics are to be understood as indicative and, for technical reasons, may undergo variations of +/- 5% from batch to batch.

  13. Slight variation of color is inevitable in different batches, as well as between samples and quantities that are available in stock, especially in case of natural fibers and of velvets and chenilles. If an exact match is required, we recommend that you request a CFA from the available stock before confirming the order. It is not possible to provide a CFA from wallpapers sold by roll.

  14. Fabrics undergo light fastness tests to ascertain their resistance. However, in particular atmospheric conditions or direct exposure to sunlight or halogen lamps, discoloration may happen which is not attributable to the dyeing quality. For items with a dark or intense color, a loss of color due to rubbing cannot be excluded. In case silken fabrics are used for curtains we always recommend the use of a lining.

  15. In the case of printed, embroidered or floc fabrics, the advised width is that of the useable part of fabric that shows the print, the embroidery or the floc, thus not the width of the fabric from selvedge to selvedge that can vary without becoming the reason of a claim. It is technically impossible to guarantee a perfect horizontal alignment for fabrics with a pattern repeat; please take this into account when packing Roman blinds, panels or when installing wallcovering.

  16. In our collection there are fireproof fabrics suitable for contract and cruise ship use.
Please contact our sales office for more information about the available certifications and about the development of special products.

    Wallcoverings

  17. Complete instructions for wallpaper installation are mentioned on the back of the label that is sent along with the roll. Rubelli declines any responsibility in the event of noncompliance with these instructions. Before using the wallpaper, make sure that the rolls are from the same production batch and in sequence (rolls are numbered).

  18. Always verify final look of the wallpaper after installation of the first 3 sheets. Rubelli will not accept complaints for defects in the wallcoverings if more than one roll (or 3 sheets) have been installed. In no case will Rubelli reimburse the installation expenses of disputed wallpapers.
